What is the Norfolk Pedal Tours Pedicycle?

Ours is a 15-seater, pedal powered touring vehicle that takes groups along City approved routes through Downtown Norfolk and Historic Ghent to explore art, history, restaurants and bars. The cycle has 5 pedaling seats on each side, 1 non-pedaling seat on each side and a back bench for 3 non-pedaling riders. The cycle’s max speed is 8mph and is fueled by participant pedal power. We do have a battery to help with inclines.

Who can ride the Pedicycle?

Riders must be 12 years old and at least 5’ tall to pedal. Participants must be 21 years old or older to enter the bars on the bar crawl routes. Maximum weight on each bike seat is 250lbs. Riders weighing 250lbs or more are welcome to sit on the bike's back bench.

How much does it cost?

Ticket prices vary by type of tour and day of the week. We offer private and public tours that can be booked for large groups at one time (up to 15 passengers per bike) or by individual seat. More info on prices for each tour can be found here.

Who drives?

We do! Every tour has a designated driver and a professional guide to make sure you get the most from your experience. All you have to do is pedal!

Where do we go?

Depending on the tour you sign up for you’ll pedal along City approved routes through Downtown Norfolk and Historic Ghent to explore art, history, restaurants and bars.

What do I need to bring?

We provide the bike, the driver the sound system and the guide, you’ll need to make sure everyone in your group knows to bring the following:

  • Closed toe shoes
  • Water or other non-alcoholic hydrating drinks
  • Phone or action camera
  • Sunscreen for daytime tours
  • Rain jacket if the forecast calls for rain
  • Sweater if you get chilly
  • Money should you want to purchase food or drinks at the stops along the route

Can we bring our own beverages?

Due to local and state ABC Laws, no alcoholic beverages are allowed on the cycle. You may bring sodas or water on board.

Is there music on board?

Our cycle has a blue tooth sound system as well as premium Spotify so you can create your own playlist for the tour.

Should I tip my driver/guide?

Heck yeah, unless for some reason you really didn't like your driver, then no. Our drivers/guides work hard to make sure you and your group have a good time and a safe trip.

What if the weather is bad?

No problem! Our cycle has a large canopy to protect from rain while pedaling. You may also want to bring along a poncho or rain jacket if rain is in the forecast.

In the case of severe weather we will make the decision whether to reschedule the tour or not two hours before your start time.

If you or your group decides that you don't want to go and we haven't cancelled your tour, there are no rain checks or refunds.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you cancel 21 days prior to your booking, we will give you a refund or a rain check to use at a later date. If you cancel 14 days prior to your booking, we will give you a rain check to use at a later date. Cancellations within 7 days of the tour will not receive any type of a refund. Tickets are transferable though, so find a friend who wants to go!

What is the least amount of people needed to operate the pedicycle?

Our tours require a minimum of four (4) pedalers at a time to make the experience as enjoyable as possible for you. We don’t want you to have to work too hard on your tour.
